Project: initial sales key art design for an LGBTQ+ documentary in post-production

Key art design

GAY GAMES is a documentary, currently in production, and recently acquired by social impact-focussed distributor Together Films for global distribution.

I was commissioned to produce initial sales key art to aid pre-sales pitching. I met with the distributor and producers to gain in-depth insights into the film project, and what their vision for what the key art should represent. The brief was to clearly communicate the theme of a sports competition and queer joy.

I worked closely with the distribution team to develop several concepts, incorporating both imagery from the film, and new imagery to symbolise the themes. We refined these ideas down to a final concept utilising iconography that conveyed, in a simple but strong way, the core themes of the documentary.

I finalised this concept in two colourways, and with several ratios and formats, for the distributor to use in different pitching and social media contexts.
